What Work is Taking Place?

Beginning in March 2017, crews will begin subsurface utility engineering at the future Fairbank Station, in which boreholes will be drilled into the roadway in order to investigate underground utilities and ground conditions in advance of wet utilities relocation.  This work will take place throughout the vicinity of Eglinton Avenue West and Dufferin Street. 

Hours of Work

  • This work will be conducted Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM for approximately two (2) weeks.
  • The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours, but may do so at its discretion
  • In the event that overnight work is required, Metrolinx and CTS will notify the public in advance and monitor activities throughout
  • This work may be rescheduled due to weather or unforeseen circumstances

What to Expect

  • Nearby residents and businesses can expect increased noise in the area caused by a saw-cutter, hydro-vacuuming truck, drill and other construction equipment
  • In addition to construction activity, residents can expect to see equipment and material storage within the designated work zones

Traffic and Pedestrian Details

  • Intermittent sidewalk and crosswalk closures may be in effect
  • Intermittent lane closures may be in effect
  • A Paid Duty Officer will be present to direct vehicular traffic at the intersection during this activity
  • As always, please take care when travelling near construction zones

Travelling Smart during Construction

Travel delays are expected with the Crosstown construction. Please allow extra time for your journey. Traffic will be extra heavy at peak periods during the Crosstown construction. When possible, please travel during the off-peak period between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
