Support of Excavation Work for Keelesdale Station

Stage One: Spring- Fall 2016

What work is starting?

A crew is now setting up staging areas at Keele Street/Trethewey Drive and Eglinton Avenue West for support of excavation work also known as ‘shoring’. For the Keelesdale Station, an area the size of the station’s footprint (about 130m x 20 m) is cut, a shallow area excavated, and steel piles, braces and tie-backs are installed around the sides to support the excavation.

When construction starts, multiple lanes will be restricted by the staging areas. Construction staging has been designed to lessen impacts to residents as best as possible while allowing crews to complete the work safely.

During construction, expect lane reductions on Eglinton Avenue West from Yarrow Road to East of Keele Street; and on Keele Street/Trethewey Drive and south of Eglinton Avenue West.

While every effort will be made to minimize noise, residents near the work site can expect to hear trucks, excavators, backhoes, and other construction equipment.

In mid-April, shoring will begin on the station box and lane reductions will take effect.
