WHAT WORK IS TAKING PLACE?
A change in traffic alignment is expected to occur on Eglinton Avenue East between Brentcliffe Road and the West Don River Bridge as early as August 15, 2019. Eastbound and westbound traffic will be shifted to the north side of Eglinton Avenue East to accommodate the continued construction of the Brentcliffe Portal and the rehabilitation of the West Don River Bridge. Traffic will continue to be one lane in each direction.
TIMING
- The traffic change will occur as early as August 15, 2019 and remain in place until December 2019.
- Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
- Work may occur between the hours of 7:00 AM and 11:00 PM, seven (7) days a week.
- The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours, but may do so at its discretion.
WHAT TO EXPECT
- Bridge rehabilitation work on the south side of Eglinton Avenue east at the West Don River Bridge. Works include deck replacement, reinforcement/repairs to the abutments and beams to the bridge, road widening and curb and sidewalk construction.
- Final construction activities for the East Portal at Brentcliffe Road include backfill and barrier wall forming and concrete works.
- Road users can expect delays when travelling through the work zone. As always, please take care when travelling through the work zone.
- Occasional overnight work may be required. Metrolinx will notify the public in advance and monitor activities throughout.
TRAFFIC AND PEDESTRIAN IMPACTS
- Traffic will be shifted to the north side of Eglinton Avenue East between Brentcliffe Road and the West Don River Bridge.
- Traffic will continue to be one lane in each direction.
- The pedestrian sidewalk will detour around the work zone and will be available on the south side of Eglington Avenue East only.
- Construction vehicles will be accessing and exiting the work zone. Paid duty officers or flag persons may be used when required to assist with traffic control.
