Eglinton Crosstown Update Meeting

The Eglinton Crosstown is a 19 kilometre Light Rail Transit (LRT) line that will run along Eglinton Avenue through the heart of Toronto, with an underground central section. The line will connect Mount Dennis in the west to Kennedy Road in the east. The new service will be up to 60 per cent faster than bus service today. Read more »

Caledonia Hydro Relocation: Late Spring 2014

The Eglinton Crosstown is a transit project that will provide rapid and reliable service across Eglinton Avenue including an underground central section and will be up to 60% faster than bus service today.

Work is Progressing

What: Crews are relocating various utilities for the construction of the Caledonia Station headwalls. Headwalls are underground support walls located at the east and west ends of the future station location. Initial utility relocation work and installation of headwalls began in May 2013 and will continue until late spring 2014. Read more »

Open Letter to the Residents of Eglinton Avenue and Allen Road Area

Re: Traffic Congestion and Pedestrian Safety at Allen Road/Eglinton Avenue

The Eglinton Crosstown is a light rail transit (LRT) line that will run across Eglinton Avenue between Mount Dennis (Weston Road) and Kennedy Station. This 19-kilometre corridor will include a 10-kilometre underground portion, between Keele Street and Laird Drive.  It will provide a rapid and reliable service that will be up to 60% faster than bus service today, when it is completed in 2020. What is happening at Eglinton Avenue and Allen Road?

Extraction and Launch Shaft Construction

These large shafts, used for the entry and removal of the tunnel boring machines, will be located within the Eglinton Avenue roadway both east and west of Allen Road. Each shaft will also have an adjacent construction site on the north side of Eglinton Avenue for various tunnelling activities.

Construction reaches Eglinton Avenue and Allen Road

Construction of the Eglinton Crosstown is underway along Eglinton Avenue at Allen Road, which means some restrictions for motorists and pedestrians. 

Motorists can expect delays with only one westbound lane providing access northbound on Allen Road. Along Eglinton, traffic is reduced to one lane in either direction in this area. Access onto and exiting Allen Road will be busier than usual for many months as the new Crosstown line is being built. 

Motorists should consider Avenue Road, Bathurst or Yonge Streets as alternate north/south travel options. Read more »
