What Work is Taking Place?

Pending permits and approvals, work will commence to reconfigure the traffic lights and introduce traffic staging at the Yonge-Eglinton intersection to prepare for upcoming utilities relocations.


  • Work is expected to begin as early as October 11, 2016 and is expected to last approximately two weeks.
  • Overnight work will be required, but minimal noise disruption is expected.
  • Pending permits, work occur overnight, between the hours of 7:00 PM and 5:00 AM.
  • Work is subject to permits and all relevant approvals, and may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

What to Expect 

  • Localized construction zones will be instated at the Yonge-Eglinton intersection.
  • Traffic signals will be disabled temporarily at various times overnight to minimize traffic and pedestrian impacts. 
  • A paid-duty officer will be present to direct traffic as required.
  • The new traffic signal configuration will maintain all existing functions including the audio-positioning system.
  • All access to businesses will be maintained.
