WHAT WORK IS TAKING PLACE?

Chaplin Station construction continues with a variety of ongoing construction activities. Traffic changes are required in order to continue to upgrade existing/install new utilities, continue shoring activities on the north side of Eglinton, and begin shallow excavation on the north side of Eglinton.

The new construction staging and associated traffic changes will be implemented as early as late March 2018.

TIMING 

  • This configuration may be implemented as early as late March 2018 and is expected to remain in place for approximately one (1) month.
  • Work may occur within the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
  • Work may be delayed due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Gilgorm Road and Latimer Avenue will remain closed at Eglinton Avenue West throughout 2018.
  • Noise caused by loaders, trucks and other construction equipment can be expected.
  • Dust from drilling activity and debris removal can be expected.
  • Fencing, concrete barriers, scaffolding and signage will be erected around work zones.
  • Pedestrians and road users can expect delays when travelling through the intersection.

TRAFFIC AND PEDESTRIAN IMPACTS

  • Gilgorm Road and Latimer Avenue will remain closed at Eglinton Avenue West throughout 2018.
  • The west and southeast driveway of Shoppers Drug Mart will remain open
  • Turn restrictions will be in effect at the intersection of Chaplin Crescent and Eglinton Avenue West.
  • A minimum of one lane in each direction will be maintained on Eglinton Avenue West.
