What Work is Taking Place?

As decking nears completion at Eglinton Avenue and Holly Street, crews will be moving the work zone to the north side of Eglinton Avenue between Holly Street and Dunfield Avenue. The next phase (depicted below) will take approximately 2-3 months to complete. 


Hours of Work

  • Work is expected to begin as early as mid-April 2019 for approximately 2-3 months.
  • Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.


What to Expect

  • The work zone on Eglinton Avenue at Holly Street will be moved to the north side of Eglinton Avenue. Traffic will be routed around the work zone.
  • Nearby residents and businesses can expect noise in the area caused by heavy equipment including cranes, loaders, excavators, trucks and other construction equipment, as well as dust from drilling activity and debris removal.
  • Heavy truck traffic entering and exiting the work zone, and traveling through nearby streets can be expected.
  • In addition to construction activity, residents can expect to see equipment and material storage within designated work zones.
  • For safety purposes, fencing will be erected around the work zone.
  • All access to businesses is maintained throughout the stages.


Traffic and Pedestrian Impacts

  • Cowbell Lane will remain closed at Eglinton Avenue East.
  • All turns at the Yonge-Eglinton intersection will remain restricted.
  • The sidewalk from Duplex Avenue to Yonge Street on the south side of Eglinton Avenue West will remain closed for the duration of this stage.
  • The crosswalks will remain unchanged for this phase of work.
  • The south underground pedestrian tunnel connecting the Eglinton Subway Station to the southeast side of Eglinton Avenue and Yonge Street will remain open for this stage.
  • The east, west and north underground tunnel connecting the Eglinton Subway Station to Riocan’s Yonge-Eglinton Centre will remain closed until 2021. 


Transit Information

Access to the TTC Eglinton Subway Station will be maintained. Relocation and re-routing of bus stops is done in consultation with TTC to ensure construction can continue safely while minimizing impact on the community and customers. Please watch for posted notices indicating new information. 


Travelling Smart during Construction

Travel delays are expected with the Crosstown construction. Please allow extra time for your journey. Traffic will be extra heavy at peak periods during the Crosstown construction. When possible, please travel during the off-peak period between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
