What Work is Taking Place?

Support of excavation work, also known as shoring, has commenced to make way for the future Eglinton interchange station. This work will include pile installation, jet grouting and road deck installation. Shoring will be conducted in phases, beginning in the former TTC bus depot on the southeast corner of Yonge and Eglinton and along the south side of Eglinton Avenue between Duplex Avenue and Holly Street.

Hours of Work

  • Work is expected to begin as early as March 2018. Portions of this phase of shoring will be approximately 2-3 months.
  • Work is permitted between the hours of 7:00 AM and 11:00 PM, 7 days a week.
  • The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours, but may do so at its discretion.
  • Occasional overnight work may be required. Metrolinx will notify the public in advance and monitor activities throughout.
  • Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

What to Expect

  • Nearby residents and businesses can expect noise in the area caused by a pile drill, crane, loaders, trucks and other construction equipment, as well as dust from drilling activity and debris removal.

  • In addition to construction activity, residents can expect to see equipment and material storage within designated work zones.
  • For safety purposes, fencing will be erected around the work zone.
  • All access to businesses is maintained throughout the stages.

  • The sidewalk from Duplex Avenue to Yonge Street on the south side of Eglinton Avenue West will remain closed for the duration of this stage.
