What work is taking place?

Deep excavation and dewatering have been underway at Caledonia Station since spring 2017.

Dewatering is underway and will continue for the duration of station construction.  Crews will continue excavating to approximately 30 meters below grade to expose the tunnels.  This called deep excavation.  During deep excavation, several trucks will haul more 700 cubic meters of excavated soil to off-site facility each day.

Deep excavation work will continue through December 2017.

Hours of Work

  • This work will be conducted Monday through Friday, between 6:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m.
  • Some weekend work will be required.

What to Expect

  • Noise caused by construction equipment and trucks, as well as dust from drilling activity can be expected.
  •  Increased truck traffic can be expected.
  • Pedestrians and motorists can expect delays when travelling through the work zone. 

Temporary Traffic and Pedestrian Changes

  • Construction vehicles will utilize the truck staging lane when accessing the site.
