What: Work continues at the extraction shaft on Eglinton Avenue between Yonge Street and Lillian Street. The next stage of work is set to begin, which will remain on the north lanes of Eglinton Avenue. This work will include, heavy civil construction; installation of secant piles, jet grouting, daylighting and relocating utilities.
When: Starting as early as mid to late June, crews will begin to install secant piles and begin jet-grouting. Timelines may be adjusted due to weather conditions and/or unforeseen circumstances.
Where: The extraction shaft work site will be extended further west in the center lanes.
Traffic Details:
- During this stage of work the construction zone for extraction shaft work will remain within the north lanes of Eglinton Avenue.
- The current work zone will expand in order to perform secant piling and jet grouting operations.
- Traffic will remain shifted to the south curb lanes and reduced to one lane in each direction.
- Left turns from northbound Holly Street to westbound Eglinton Avenue are prohibited.
- Left turns from westbound Eglinton Avenue to southbound Holly Street are prohibited.
40 Eglinton Vehicle Entry:
- Entry/exit to and from the 40 Eglinton Avenue East underground parking lot and driveway will remain open.
- ONLY WESTBOUND Eglinton traffic will be able to enter the 40 Eglinton Avenue East driveway and underground parking lot.
- Westbound Eglinton vehicles entering the 40 Eglinton Avenue East drivewayand underground parking lot will perform a right-hand turn and immediate U- turn within thebarricaded entrance area.
- Entry to the 40 Eglinton Avenue East driveway and underground parking lot will be located just west of Holly Street.
- Please follow posted signs for directions.
- Please be aware of pedestrian traffic crossing the entrance to the parking garage.
40 Eglinton Vehicle Exit:
- Vehicles exiting 40 Eglinton Avenue East must immediately turn right and will be guided by signage and roadway lineation to join westbound traffic on Eglinton
- Vehicles exiting 40 Eglinton Avenue East cannot turn left to eastbound Eglinton East traffic.
Traffic patterns in the area will continue to change and shift during different stages of the work. All work zones will be separated from right-of-way with traffic cones, concrete barriers and/or fencing. Traffic delays are expected during construction. Please heed traffic signs and take care when travelling near construction areas.
Transit Information
For the safety of transit riders, both eastbound and westbound TTC bus stops in the affected area will be relocated. Watch for posted signs and future information indicating the new locations.
Pedestrian Information
Pedestrian walkways will remain open; however detours may be in place. Access to all stores and businesses will remain open during construction.
Work Hours
Most of the work will be carried out between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m., 7 days a week. In certain situations, some late night and/or early morning works may be required. The contractor will not always work during the extended hours, but may do so when necessary.
