Excavation works beneath TTC’s Eglinton Station Box are complete. Through Spring 2021, crews at Eglinton Station will continue to work extended construction hours to perform final grading and structural works below ground. This work includes backfilling, compacting soil, and installing structural steel, rebar and formwork to reinforce the station’s concrete walls and slabs.
Concrete works, including shotcrete application (spraying reinforcing concrete) and large volume pours, will continue to take place at the station box and entrances through 2021. Concrete pours are expected to take place on a weekly basis and each pour will take approximately 12-18 hours to complete. To ensure the integrity and continuity of the concrete, large volume pours may begin as early as 5:00 a.m.
Construction will continue to take place on a 24-hour basis Monday to Friday through Spring 2021. Periodically, crews may be required to work overnight through the weekend to facilitate utility works and specialized activities.
What to Expect
Noise from construction activity, including trucks, material loading, and use of heavy machinery can be expected. Overnight work will take place approximately 15 meters below ground - minimal noise is expected. Several trucks entering/exiting the site every hour, as well as truck staging around the work zone. Site lighting is required. All property access will be maintained. Expect delays while travelling through the intersection.
