What work is taking place?

Crews at Fairbank station continue to work extended hours to facilitate deep excavation, the demolition of the tunnel roof, and concrete works. Work will be ongoing from 7:00am until 3:00am Monday to Friday. On weekends, crews will work as early as 7:00am until 5:00pm. Work involves the use of an excavator for deep excavation and a crane for lifting and hoisting. Concrete works will also be ongoing. Work does not involve heavy vibrations or noise. The next scheduled shift is Monday February 3, 2020.

Hours of Work

  • Crews will be working 7:00am until 3:00am, Monday to Friday, until mid-2020.
  • On weekends, crews will be working as early as 7:00am until 5:00pm.
  • The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours, but may do so at its discretion.
  • Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
  • This work may be longer or shorter than expected.

 

What to Expect

  • This work does not involve heavy noise or vibrations.
  • Nearby residents and businesses can expect to see construction lighting and crews using an excavator, a crane, and up to five (5) concrete trucks per hour.
  • There will be truck traffic entering and exiting the main entrance work zone, south of Eglinton Avenue West on Dufferin Street.
  • In addition to construction activity, residents can expect to see equipment and material storage.
  • Property access will be maintained.
  • Expect delays while travelling near work zones.
  • Motorists can expect delays when travelling through the intersection.

Traffic Impacts

·        

Eglinton Avenue West and Dufferin Street will remain open with one lane in each direction.

·        

Trucks will stage on Dufferin Street, south of Eglinton Avenue West.

 

TTC Impacts

  • TTC routes will remain the same.

 

Pedestrian Impacts

  • All pedestrian routes will remain open for the duration of extended hours work.
