Update

As a response to community request, Metrolinx and its constructor, CTS, have redesigned the pedestrian crosswalk staging around the demolition site on the northwest corner of the Mount Pleasant Road and Eglinton Avenue East intersection. Pedestrians are now safe to use all crosswalks.

What work is Taking Place?

In June 2016, crews began the demolition of the former Second Cup building at the northwest corner of Mount Pleasant Road and Eglinton Avenue East. The building was designed in 1928 and originally established as an Imperial Bank of Canada. Metrolinx concurred with the City of Toronto’s recommendation that the building be added to the Inventory of Heritage Properties and has ensured that certain structural and design elements will be preserved.  During demolition, the building façade will be disassembled brick-by-brick, catalogued, labelled, and then reassembled upon construction of the future station structure. View the permit for the work.

  • In addition to the construction activities, residents can expect to see material storage and equipment movement in the designated work zone.
