WHAT WORK IS TAKING PLACE?
Lanes will be realigned to accommodate guideway construction on Eglinton Avenue East at Leslie St. Traffic is expected to change to the configuration depicted below as early as May 16, 2019 and remain until June 30, 2019 (depicted below).
All works are in support of the construction of the Crosstown LRT tracks and guideway (dedicated transit lane) in the centre of Eglinton Avenue East.
TIMING
- The traffic change will occur as early as May 16, 2019.
- Work is expected to begin as early as May 16, 2019 and continue until June 30, 2019.
- This work may take place between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
- The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours, but may do so at its discretion. Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
WHAT TO EXPECT
- Lane reductions will be required with a minimum of one through lane of traffic in each direction maintained.
- Guideway construction activities may include: cutting and removal of existing asphalt, excavation, installation of subgrade materials, duct banks installation and track drainage, track slab and stops.
- There may be occurrences where a shoulder is narrowed and/or a traffic protection barrier is placed to accommodate safe working conditions.
PEDESTRIAN IMPACTS
- A pedestrian walkway is available on the south side of Eglinton Avenue East, west of Leslie Street.
- A pedestrian walkway is available on the north side of Eglinton Avenue East, east of Leslie Street.
TTC IMPACTS
- The eastbound TTC stop on Eglinton Avenue East at Leslie Street will remain closed.
- Relocation and closures of bus stops is done in consultation between TTC and Metrolinx to ensure construction can continue safely while minimizing impact on the community and customers.
