What Work is Taking Place?

As part of the continued traffic staging set up for support of excavation work at Leslie Street to Celestica Drive and Eglinton Avenue East traffic restrictions will be changing.

In support of construction of the future Sunnybrook Park Stop, crews will be reducing lanes between Leslie Street and Celestica Drive to facilitate road widening, utilities relocation, and civil works.

This work is expected to begin as early as Tuesday, August 14th, 2018. Work will take approximately three (3) months to complete. 

 

Hours of Work

  • This work will to begin as early as Tuesday August 14th, 2018.
  • Work will take approximately three (3) months to complete.
  • Work may occur between the hours of 9:00 PM and 5:00 AM, seven (7) days a week.
  • Updates on works taking place during overnight periods will be communicated separately.
  • The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours, but may do so at its discretion.
  • Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

What to Expect

  • Lane reductions between Leslie Street and Don Mills Road to facilitate road widening, utility relocations and civil works such as green wall construction.
  • Nearby businesses and residents can expect noise from excavators, bobcats, trucks and other construction equipment caused by utilities relocation activity.
  • For safety purposes, fencing will be erected around the work zones.
  • As always, please take care when travelling near work sites.

Traffic Impacts

  • Two (2) lanes of eastbound through traffic will be maintained during this work.
  • One (1) lane of westbound through traffic will be maintained during this work.
  • As always, please take care when travelling near work sites.

Pedestrian Impacts

  • All open pedestrian crossing and walkways will remain. 
  • Paid Duty Police Officers may be present during this work. 

TTC Impacts

  • The bus stop on the south side of Leslie Street and Eglinton Avenue East will be temporarily relocated for the safety of the public and transit users.
  • Transit users will go westbound to Brentcliffe to get the east bound bus.
  • Relocation and re-routing of bus stops is done in consultation with TTC to ensure construction can continue safely while minimizing impact on the community and customers.

Travelling Smart during Construction

Travel delays are expected with the Crosstown construction. Please allow extra time for your journey. Traffic will be extra heavy at peak periods during the Crosstown construction. When possible, please travel during the off-peak period between 10 AM and 3 PM.
