The Eglinton Crosstown is a 19-kilometre light rail transit (LRT) line that will run along Eglinton Avenue through the heart of Toronto, with an underground central section. The line will connect Mount Dennis in the west to Kennedy Road in the east, and the new service will be up to 60% faster than the bus service today.

 

Utility Works Planned for Future Fairbank (Formerly Dufferin) Station

Upcoming Works

  • Work crews will survey and drill boreholes to obtain additional information of the location of underground utilities and ground conditions near the future Fairbank Station. 
  • They will be surveying approximately 75 metres east and west of the Dufferin Street intersection. 

Timing

  • Work will begin Tuesday, February 23rd and should be completed in 10 working days.

What to expect

  • Residents and businesses near the future Fairbank Station will see heavy trucks and equipment in the area as crews move from one test hole to the next.
  • While work is underway, nearby residents and businesses can expect to hear some noise related to drilling, saw-cutting, hydro- vacuuming, and use of heavy equipment.

Traffic Impacts

  • Occasional and temporary lane closures may be required at Dufferin Street.
  • If necessary, a paid-duty officer will be in place for control of vehicular traffic as required, and with minimal impacts to pedestrian traffic.  
  • As always, please take care when travelling near construction areas.
