What Work is Taking Place?

As part of the continued construction of the future Sunnybrook Park Stop of the Eglinton Crosstown LRT, crews will be conducting water main installation work along the north east corner of Eglinton Avenue East at Leslie Street intersection.

Preparatory work will start as early as Wednesday, October 24, 2018. Work will take approximately two (2) days to complete the preparatory works inclusive of setting up the temporary water system and live tap.

Water main installation and associated works will continue until mid-December 2019.

Hours of Work

  • Preparatory work is expected to begin as early as Wednesday, October 24, 2018, and will take approximately two (2) days.
  • Preparatory work will occur between the hours of 7 AM – 5 PM.
  • The overnight period and associated water shut off is planned for the weeks of October 29th and November 12th. Affected properties will be notified separately and in advance.
  • Connection and disconnection switch overs will be done during overnight hours, 9 PM - 6 AM to minimize the impact of service disruptions, and will be communicated in advance.
  • The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours, but may do so at its discretion.
  • Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

What to Expect

  • The preparatory works include setting up the temporary water system and live tap which will take approximately two (2) days.
  • A work zone will be set up along the north east corner of Eglinton Avenue East at Leslie Street.
  • A short water service disruption will be required to connect and disconnect the temporary water service. This work will be performed overnight to minimize disruptions.
  • At least 24-hour advance notice will be provided for all planned shut-offs.
  • Pedestrians will be rerouted around the construction zone.
  • Property access to businesses will be maintained.
  • For safety, fencing, dust cloth, barriers, and scaffolding may be erected around work zones.
  • Pedestrians and road users can expect delays when traveling near work zones.
  • As always, please take care when travelling near work sites.

TTC Impacts

  • TTC bus stops in the affected area may be relocated for the safety of transit riders. Please watch for posted signs indicating the adjusted locations.
  • Relocation and re-routing of bus stops is done in consultation with TTC to ensure construction can continue safely while minimizing impact on the community and customers.
