What is the Crosstown?

The Eglinton Crosstown is a 19-kilometre light rail transit (LRT) line that will run along Eglinton Avenue through the heart of Toronto, with an underground central section. The line will connect Mount Dennis in the west to Kennedy Road in the east, and the new service will be up to 60% faster than the bus service today.

What Work is Taking Place?

  • Pending a City of Toronto permit, work will commence to replace and relocate existing City of Toronto watermain infrastructure
  • Work may start as early as Monday June 20, 2016 and last for 2 months 

Work zone for Weston Road watermain

 

Timing 

  •  Work will occur Monday to Friday
  • The majority of work will occur from 7 am to 4 pm.
  •  Short term work at the crossing of Eglinton Avenue and Keelesdale Road will occur one night from 10pm to 5am.  Additional notice will be provided when overnight work is scheduled.
  •  Work could be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstance

What to Expect

  • While every effort will be made to minimize noise, residents near the work site can expect to hear saw cutting, jack hammering, trucks, excavators, backhoes, and other construction equipment related to this work.

Traffic Details 

  • The inside westbound lane on Eglinton Avenue from Weston Road to Keelesdale Drive will be closed

Pedestrian Details 

  • Access to and from properties will be maintained
  • Sidewalks will be maintained at all times
  • As always, please take care when travelling near construction areas.
