Update: Crews completed a majority of the hydro relocation work over the summer, and will be completing the work along Hillsdale Avenue and Yonge Street over the coming months.  The laydown area on Berwick Avenue has been extended to January 31, 2018. Read more »

Support of excavation (shoring) for the new Eglinton station will require closure of the underground pedestrian tunnel at Yonge Street and Eglinton Avenue leading from the Eglinton TTC subway station (pictured below) to the Riocan Yonge-Eglinton Centre. Read more »

Pedestrian Safety near Construction Sites

The tunnelled section between Brentcliffe Road and Black Creek Drive is complete, and last year, construction activities began at all 15 underground stations including Kennedy Station. The preparatory works at the at-grade portion of the line, between Brentcliffe Road and Kennedy Station, also started this summer. Since the end of school, many work zones have been set up for construction and some major intersections along Eglinton Avenue have changed.

UPDATE: Continued Shoring Works at Eglinton Station

What Work is Taking Place?

Support of excavation work, also known as shoring, began in early May 2017 for the future Eglinton interchange station. This work includes pile installation, jet grouting and road deck installation. In May, shoring work began within the former Salvation Army property at 7 Eglinton Avenue East, which is now complete.   Read more »

Upcoming Sanitary Sewer Connection at Eglinton Station

What Work is Taking Place

To prepare for the construction of Eglinton Station, crews have been relocating existing water mains and sanitary sewers in the vicinity of Eglinton Avenue and Yonge Street.  To complete this work, crews need to connect the new sanitary sewer with the existing sewer located at the northwest corner of the Yonge-Eglinton intersection.  Read more »

Dewatering System Installation Eglinton Avenue East from Lillian Street to Redpath Avenue

What Work is Taking Place

The term “dewatering” means pumping from the ground water at a site where there will be excavation.  At Eglinton Avenue East between Lillian Street and Redpath Avenue, half a dozen small wells will be drilled for the future Cross Passage. The volume of soil that requires dewatering is significant.  The wells will be drilled and shallow trenches will be required to lay the pipes, pumps, wells and valves to do the work.   Read more »
